Double Trouble

with 2 comments

We decided on a double stroller.  My mom got us the Phil & Ted’s (thanks Nana!).  It’s pretty cool.  It can be a single or a double and as a double it can work with a newborn and a toddler and with two toddlers. (OH MY GOD I’M GOING TO HAVE TWO TODDLERS.  WHAT WAS I THINKING???)

This picture shows how it works.

This is a pretty cool piece of gear.  We had to get a bike pump because the tires need to be inflated.  Upside to this is that it gives a cushier ride, especially in the city.  Downside is you have to inflate them.  The front wheel swivels to make it easy to maneuver but can also lock in place.

Depending on weather (and Mommy’s energy level) we might take it for a spin.

  1. Let me know how it works out! Right now Kimberlee is looking at the Uppa Baby Stroller…made right here in Rockland. She likes the second child seat also!!!

    • Patty — I only took a quick look at the Uppa and I didn’t love it but I don’t remember why. I will say that I LOVE my Baby Jogger (http://www.babyjogger.com/default.aspx) and it has a toddler jump seat. Unfortunately the toddler seat doesn’t work with my model, which was a huge bummer. But Kimberlee should take a look. The fold is super-easy. But the Phil & Ted is very cool and you can buy it as a single stroller and add the doubles kit later.

Having said that she might want to consider something really cheap, to be honest. Depends on her lifestyle, of course, but I think in the suburbs you just don’t need a heavy-duty stroller. Maddie spends hours a day every day in her stroller. She is in her stroller probably 10x more than her car seat. (It is not unheard of for her to go 30 days without ever being in the car.) If Kimberlee will mostly be using the stroller for the mall, supermarket, etc. then something simple and light (to get in and out of the car) might be more than fine.

By the way, if she doesn’t have the Baby Bargains book you should get it for her. I found it super helpful and it covers everything. Despite the name it covers high end and low end. I used it for everything.
